Special Guest-Havilah Cunnington

Listen to Guest Speaker Havilah Cunnington, from Truth to Table, as she gives us critical insight on the powerful biblical teachings of Jesus and how it relates to the problems we are facing today. We understand that fear and doubt are distractions to seeing Jesus. As believers we have to stand up to anxiety and fear, since it will always be a battle that comes against us. To be free from it we need to be aggressive with it, actually moving towards the battle and not away from it. In Matthew 14:29 it says,”Then Peter got down out of the boat, walked on the water and came toward Jesus. But when he saw the wind, he was afraid and, beginning to sink, cried out,”Lord, save me! Immediately Jesus reached out his hand and caught him. “You of little faith,” he said, “ why did you doubt?’ So why would Jesus have Peter walk on water? What was the goal? I would suggest that Jesus was teaching Peter about focus. He was teaching Peter that if you keep your eyes on me, you'll be able to overcome anything that seems impossible. Jesus was saying, if you get distracted by the wind and the waves, the critics, the pleasing of man, what people think of you and what they say about you, then you will sink. Because the wind and the waves are real and there is a real danger out there. The only way you're going to be safe is to keep your focus on Jesus, with his incredible teaching and leadership lessons on the storms of life. How many of us have storms in our lives right now? This message helps us keep our focus on Jesus to navigate those storms.
